Hi everyone!!!
Just to give you a quick update on what’s been happening in Kathmandu!!
So, so far I’ve been here nearly 3 months!! I've completed my month of
language and orientation and also spent one month working in the school.
This involved observation, teaching Kindergarden for 2 weeks, and transition
period in Grades 1 and 2. By the last week I was teaching Grades 1 and 2
full-time. It was a busy month, lots to learn, new curriculum to become
familiar with (British curriculum), but I survived and enjoyed it!!
So school is off for the holidays now - 4 weeks!!! We went to
Chitwan National Park this week for 4 days with 2 friends. Had a really
amazing time living in a jungle on an island!! It was great to be completely
away from the noise and pollution of the city, although we did get 3 hours of
electricity in the evenings and hot water for a while too, and food was great
so we got well looked after!! I went on a few elephant safaris, jungle
walks, boat ride and elephant grass cutting. Even got to drive the elephant’s
ourselves which was a very uncomfortable but amazing experience! Saw
rhino, crocodiles, monkeys, but Bengal tigers were all hiding and
footprints was all we saw of them! Reminded again of God’s amazing
creation, I honestly think Chris Tomlin must have written 'Indescribable'
while on this island!!! Class sunsets, amazing animals and the stars were
definitely much brighter than they are in Kathmandu!!! Had lots of fun
and felt refreshed for coming back to city life again.
Thanks sooooo much for all your prayers and support. I've
been a little homesick at times, but God has been so good. Settled
in well to my flat too. I’ve been overwhelmed by the number of emails,
Christmas cards, packages. Sorry I haven’t been replying individually,
but appreciate each one so much.
Some more
prayer points!!!
Praise God for...
Happy New Year!!!! Wishing you God’s richest blessing for 2007.
Lots of love
